So the duck was actually a birthday gift to my mother. My madre is very creative & artistic and people often love her tastes, but I hear all too often “Just go to an antique store or cost plus, you’re sure to find her something.” Not really. She’s a pain in the ass to shop for. I’m not nearly as talented in the “arts” as my mother, but we have very similar tastes in artistic liking. And I presume that is probably why I believe she’s such a pain in the ass to shop for.

So I walk in the Hyde Pard antique store and wander around aimlessly, dodging the four dogs wandering the territory (old dogs, and by that I mean old people dogs). Nothing, there isn’t a damn thing that stands out to me. Blankets, clocks, dishware, books. Shit, nothing. And then I see the bastard duckling in the glass case and immediately know nothing else in the store matters and for fucks sake, my mom needs that duckling with a nice bowtie because I know I need that duckling with a nice bowtie so I sit there like hey I might bargain with this person but really I don’t give a hell I’d pay top dollar for this nasty little peice of crap.

And so I buy the bowtie duckling, and I give it to my mother for her birthday, and she loves it. I see it in her eyes. She loves it.

And now the old bowtie duckling has a family.

If you’re a fan of LOTR then this could be some exciting news. This small film is being marketed as a “Film made by fans for fans”. And after watching this preview, I’m pretty much sold. Word on the street is that this film only cost $3,000. I read somewhere that the number might be $7,000, but who’s counting? In a world where Transformers movies cost far beyond 100 million clams, this lil’ guy is pretty damn delicious.

I hate the internet. I hate software, and sure, hardware too. I hate Google. And WordPress. And Apple. They’re all like that friend you had growing up, the one that always had whiskey & pot hidden in their room and the friend awaited your arrival so together you could experiment & dilute your brains. So yes, I feel like all those things above are like that. Technology is my drug dealer, and I’m fuckin’ addictted.

There’s too much info out there, and yes there are programs for organizing all that info, but I still have to admit there is not nearly enough time in the world to dig thru it, organized or not. There’s no way, and I’ve already found myself giving up some of the things I find most important just so I can read about the next Google Shit coming out.

I feel like lately I’ve chosen reading crap on the web over the hundreds of books I own (mostly FICTION) & are awaiting my eyes/mind/time. It saddens me when I think of it that way.

But keep reading my blog damnit, just cuz’
